2022 NE-PACT Annual Conference – Equity in Action

Thank you for joining us at the 2022 NE-PACT Annual Conference, co-sponsored by NE-PACT, the Region A Parent Technical Assistance (TA) Center, and the Mid-Atlantic Equity Consortium (MAEC, Inc.) Center for Education Equity (CEE). We’re thrilled to reflect on the success of this event, which took place in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from April 5 to April 7, 2022.

Conference Theme & Focus Areas

The conference theme, “Equity in Action: Enhancing Parent Center Capacity,” guided our discussions around promoting equity and culturally responsive services. Throughout the event, attendees engaged with topics including:

  • Reach, Service Delivery, and Outcomes: 
    1. Strategies for reaching diverse communities.
    2. Enhancing service delivery to ensure equitable outcomes.
  • Early Childhood:
    1. Culturally responsive practices in early childhood education and development
  • Transition to Adulthood/Working with Youth & Young Adults:
    1. Supporting youth and young adults in transitioning to adult life
    2. Promoting equity in services for youth with diverse backgrounds
  • Other Topics of Relevance and Importance to Parent Centers:
    1. Innovative approaches to family engagement
    2. Advocacy for marginalized communities
    3. Addressing systemic barriers to equity

Conference Sessions

Our sessions featured expert speakers and practitioners in the field, providing valuable insights and strategies for advancing equity in parent center capacity.

2024 NE-PACT Follow-up Forum

Collective Impact: From Contention to Collaboration on April 10th – 11th, 2024 in Secaucus, New Jersey. 

REAL Transition Partners DAY Highlights: Collective Impact in Action

During the forum, REAL Transition Partners presented on collective impact in youth engagement. The NEPACT Region A Youth Leadership Council collaboratively crafted a model based on their collective work, aimed at addressing critical issues and fostering positive change. The Region A parent centers continued the conversation by committing to creating a collaborative model, leveraging the expertise and insights gained to work together to address challenges, advocate for equity, and create positive outcomes for families across the region in these areas:

  • Addressing Staff Challenges Team: 
    1. Objective: Develop strategies to support staff resilience and well-being.
  • Early Childhood Team:
    1. Objective: Implement culturally responsive practices in early childhood education and development.
  • Immigrant & Language Access Team: 
    1. Objective: Enhance services and support for immigrant families and ensure language access for all.
  • Military-Connected Families Team:
    1. Objective: Provide comprehensive support and resources tailored to the unique needs of military-connected families.
  • Native American Families Team: 
    1. Objective: Strengthen engagement and support for Native American families through culturally sensitive approaches.

* NEPACT will cover the cost of the conference and post-conference day registration, meals, lodging, and transportation for one (1) representative from each parent center for all 3 days.
** Hotel reservations are secured via the conference registration process, you do not have to call the hotel separately to book a room.

COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE SESSIONS:

Monday, November 4th, 9:00 am – 11:30 am

Join us for one of two sessions — either the Working with Military-connected Families of the Working with Native American Families Community of Practice. These sessions are a follow up to the gatherings held in June. Activities for the upcoming year will also be discussed.


NEPACT CONFERENCE:

Monday, November 4th, 12:00 pm – Tuesday, November 5th 5:00 pm

This event will focus on helping parent centers use Implementation and Improvement Science to have sustainable quality improvement in our work. Attendees will learn to use tools and practices to build capacity across your parent center.


REACH DAY:

Wednesday, November 6th, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

This interactive session will provide opportunities for attendees to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills in using Implementation and Improvement Science tools and practices to enhance our work with youth and young adults.
